The author wishes to acknowledge the achievements of Lawrence Poon and the Learning Technology Team of the Faculty of Health Disciplines, Athabasca University, in development and hosting the first collaborative open source e-publishing system for e-textbooks within a post-secondary environment in Alberta, Canada (WordPress – Pressbooks Content Management System). This EPUB-FHD.athabascau.ca service was open to the world on 2015-08-14.

This simple web publishing service was born from the support and publication initiatives of Dr. Sherri Melrose (Creative Clinical Teaching In The Health Professions, and Supporting Individuals With Intellectual Disabilities & Mental Illness), to provide open educational resources for all learners, freely accessible anytime and anywhere via the Internet.
